This collections consists of some material originally donated to the Michigan State Association of Colored Women's Clubs. The collection includes a photograph of Solomon Frister; photograph of his home; discharge certificate of Frister from Company G, 25th Regiment, U.S. Colored Infantry Volunteers, dated Dec. 8, 1865; pension certificates for Frister and wife and son; letters from William G. Cole, Company B, 5th U.S. Colored Troops, to Susan Cole, and dating from Feb. 1864 through 1865; photograph and biographical sketch of Mrs. Robert W. (Helen) Claytor of Grand Rapids, Mich.; biographical sketches of Mrs. Henry G. (Bessie Ann) Reynolds, Muskegon Heights, Mrs. Wm. McKinley (Mentie Nightingale Moore) Bell, Muskegon, and Mrs. Wm. A. (Edra Mae) Hilliard, West Africa; a photocopy of photograph, document and clipping regarding Evelina Butler Johnson Arnold, includes a typed story by Ethel May Woodward Barber; program of meeting sponsored by Michigan Historical Commission Archives and held at MSU Museum, Apr. 27, 1963 (includes songsheet of program); a letter of greeting from Gov. George Romney, Apr. 27, 1963; and a letter from Josephine May and a copy of letter out from Historical Commission Archives, dated July 3, 1963.
